The return to Mysore after three long years. Is the Infosys campus just how I remembered it?

Going back to one of my favorite places for a trip, after almost 3 years, made me a little fidgety and forgetful. And I could be excused for that! The royal city of Mysuru holds a special place in my heart. It was my first home away from home with uncountable memories.
As my bus wound its way from the City Bus Stand, through the twisty roads of Gokulam, and through the colorful single-roof houses, I felt a sense of belonging. This city had sheltered me for 6 months and I was grateful for it.
“The royal city of Mysuru holds a special place in my heart. It was my first home away from home. Boasting of a world class campus, Infosys Mysore is the epitome of cleanliness and eco-friendliness!”
Upon reaching Infosys, it was a different story altogether. Having spent my time as a trainee there, the respect I got, as a senior employee, made me pause and pinch myself.
To test it further, I asked a young trainee to show me the way to the library
I almost stumbled when only did he show me the way, but accompanied me to the library to make sure I reached correctly."
Boasting a world-class campus, the entire 350 acres of Infosys Mysore is the epitome of cleanliness, eco-friendliness, and an architect's delight!
Made by architect Ar. Hafeez with an influence of Grecian classical architecture,
The palatial Global Education Centers are what draw your eyes immediately. These buildings house the world's largest corporate university for new trainees. The GECs are complemented by,
The Multiplex, a futuristic grey-black dome available for all employees at no additional cost,
7 Food Courts with a mix of vendors delivering Indian cuisine, with food-themed festivals of different states happening every week
A sprawling Recreational Centre with swimming, bowling, pool, tennis, rock climbing, cricket, squash... And these are only some of the structures. There are so many more! Phew!
I checked in and was welcomed to a small personal guesthouse, complete with all the amenities I could think of. After dumping my backpack on the bed (the backpack jumps right back at you, the mattresses are that springy!), I zipped off for a bicycle ride (no fuel vehicles are allowed for personal use inside.) Every inch of the campus is scrutinized by security personnel and caretakers, and if you step a toe out of line, such as cycling where you are not supposed to, you will be loudly whistled at and politely asked to move away. After a couple of miles, I was drenched in sweat but grinning and happy. (Note to self: Your gym membership back home, is not meant to gather dust. Use it, you're fatter now!)
Time flies by, doesn't it? Covering the gigantic campus took well over a couple of hours and soon, it was evening! It was time for dinner and there are a plethora of packed food courts, each with its own menu, to choose from!
As I was having my dinner, I was struck by a thought about the different phases of life and how each day is a day you will never get back again. There's something about watching the food court table where you and your friends used to sit every day, the wayside halts where you used to sing and dance, and realizing there is now a new younger group of people who do the same. The place hasn't changed at all, just the people have. Make sure you enjoy your time at this place!
After a quick meal, I met up with Devika, my friend and batchmate working out of Infosys and after endless hours of chatting and catching up, we came up with a plan to visit the Chamundi temple the next day! An innocent plan which would have repercussions I have nightmares about. The fateful plan where I would re-evaluate my life and only hope to come out of my ordeal alive! To be continued... :P
